| Fibroids can make women house
bound a few days every 3-4 weeks
(due to varying female cycles)
The blood loss is so severe it can
cause Anaemia - which is then
another disorder that then has to be
treated in itself!
Gynaecologist’s will not help until
they reach 5cm’s, they just send you
away like you are exaggerating the
symptoms - by 5cm’s it’s been years
of pain & impossibley ridiculous
bleeding - please help I can not work
due to this causing me Anxiety, pain,
upset, bed rest etc etc etc |

| It's taken nearly four years to be
diagnosed with fibroids. I have had
my symptoms continually dismissed
by my doctor and only by pure
chance of seeing a locum doctor did I
get referred for a scan or blood test.
Heavy bleeding needs to be taken
seriously as it has had a huge effect
on my quality of life. Being fobbed off
with the only options of the pill or coil
without any investigation Is
generalising women's problems and
putting them at huge risk. |

| I have PCOS and now just
been diagnosed with a large
fibroid in my womb causing
heavy and prolonged periods.
So I have a conflicting
problem as PCOS usually
presents with absent periods
but the fibroids are causing
too much blood loss. I
bleed everyday or every
month with no break,
stemming from spotting/light
to heavy clotting. I am
currently very anaemic and
because I cannot have a
blood transfusion due to
other complications so I am
on a "slow go" iron tablets
solution. Please can more
funds be pumped into
research for this condition.
I have a daughter who is
likely to also experience
fibroids. They are painful,
they really limit my
activities due to blood loss
and I just want my life
back. I really do not want
my daughter to have to live
the same way as I currently
do. Please help! |

| Fibroids are not a complicated health matter as other diseases of our age so we need to study it fully to prevent unneccessary suffering of women. |

| Definitely need more
research, information and
action on this. My fibroids
were discovered 3yrs ago and
make my life a misery (so
far this month I've bled
heavily for 15 out of 22
days!!). I've eventually
been refered to gynae but
it's been a battle and I've
still to convince them to do
something about them in as
non-invasive a manner as
possible. |

| Better awareness and
education on this common and
oftentimes debilitation
condition is long overdue!
Sufferers have made
\"mistakes\" with (bad)
treatments others muddle
through mostly living with
the pain and discomfort.
We desperately need research
so that we can find the
cause and eventually the
cure! |
